Peacock King's schedule has always been 2 chapters a week, with some exceptions due to events out of Char and I's control. We've moved it from Wednesdays and Saturdays to Tuesdays and Fridays, to control our schedules better. That's been great, but both of us have been handling a lot of outside stress - extra workload, moves coming up soon, an imminent wedding (congratulations to Char and Jess! It's December 31st, everybody, and being held in a donut shop) and a whole lot of other things.

I used to have insurance for Peacock King - it was called an extra chapter buffer. That buffer used to be quite large. But one thing led to another and over the past two months or so I haven't had it. I've been writing the updates right before they post and it's been adding extra stress to everything. I've also been worrying that this has been causing the story itself to weaken. (Though people keep telling me it's getting better and better. It's so hard to tell when you're WRITING the thing! I'm just too close to it!)

The readers have been really supportive of Peacock King and I appreciate it. The readers are why I keep writing it, every one of you. Thank you so much. But I'm having trouble making ends meet now, and this story is free. I'm going a little crazy keeping the updates going, and I need to have a semblance of sanity to be able to earn money. It's a question of survival, which makes me sad because making art and writing is a big part of my survival and vitality. I have gotta ease off, though. I wrote 69,108 words in November (happy NaNoWriMo to my fellow winners out there!) and I'm kind of tired now.

So yeah, we're gonna make Peacock King one update a week now. This means I will be more sane and have more time to PLAN the story instead of having to just write it my the flaming seat of my pants like I've been for awhile now. This also means that the REALLY COOL things we've been planning will be able to happen now that we'll have the time for it. Things like revised versions of the books being available in e-book and print form, things like a bonus comic series that runs parallel to the plotline, things like entirely new stories, flash minigames, cool widgets, character profiles, and new illustrations. It will be pretty awesome, but all that stuff, and my sanity, demands that I slow down with Peacock King's posts and write a little less crazily. My written wordcount per week will probably be the same, but I will build up my buffer again and be able to take time off when I need it and not feel guilty any time I'm not sitting in front of my computer and working.

Again, I thank ALL of you for reading Peacock King. You will get awesome story once a week. The plot will probably move even faster now and I'm pretty sure I can make the updates longer now that there will be less of them. (I know they've been getting a little skimpy. It's been all I can write. I keep em above 2,000 words as a rule but prefer something near or slightly over 3,000. Lately, they've been barely over 2,000. Not a happy Irk!) You will get a quality story and great bonuses, and you will even have tidied-up earlier chapters of Book 1 soon (the Gerald chapters) that won't suck! I for one think that's a really sweet deal. So please bear with the changes. We at Infernal Shenanigans take change very seriously. After all, I managed to scrabble up enough change the other day to get a coffee. That was pretty impressive.

Thanks, everyone. I won't fail your trust. Chapter updates will be every Friday now, so you can TGIF PK-style.
